I used their original hitch on my 2006 Cooper S, and with this 2011 Clubman S, I was actually the test fit car for their Clubman hitch. Works like a champ. On the Clubman you don't have a central hole in the rear bumper cover through which to access the hitch, as the Coopers do, so you drill out the cover behind the license plate mount and access through there. The license plate hack was just something I dummied up, though I'm going to modify it further this summer. I can get you links to my install notes (with pics) as well as info on the license plate hack, if you like. Just let me know…

Re: Review: Saris Thelma 3 Rear Bike Rack

Nice setup. What did you install to get that hitch on the Mini? Do you have to do anything special with your license plate?

Re: lungWish #333 – the xtracycle

Interested readers might note: I built an Xtracycle longbike on a 29er for my kids a scant 3.3 years later:

But even so, that's why I used the smoothed service attachment points with the glowing 'socket' element. I figured that it was a good compromise.

I hadn't seen Bengus' piece. It looks great. Much less lean, as you noted.
Thanks for checking the piece out!

Re: TRDL 2011 No. 5 – Iron Man Series – Modular Armor

I enjoyed your interpretation of this armor. You really seemed to take the design and run with it, and get rid of those yellow things on his arms/legs while you were at it. Simpler is always better.

But the phrase "Toyfair-influenced armor"? That seems a bit harsh... but hilarious though.

I liked the idea of the Modular armor, just because it had pants, and attachable components instead of everything being internal. However, I agree that the 'lego' modules are a bit much.

What I didn't like was the way the armor looked in the comics.. it was so scrawny. It just didn't look right. But have you seen this piece by Bengus? In his hands, the armor became my favorite. It was buff, tough, and badass in general.

Looks great!
Tell me about the build you have? 26" MTB frame and wheels?
My challenges in the build have stemmed from using a big 29er frame, keeping the 29er in back and making ti all fit. I used a 35c tyre back there so i JUUUUST cleared the Xtracycle frame, but the FAP install is impossible because the chainstays are too long. So I have a local shop helping to get a piece fabricated for it. Can't wait to ride!

Re: Xtracycle Mountain Biking

Totally cool. My buddy, Simon, and I have done similar riding around Santa Barbara. I have found the Xtracycle great for long climbs as you can shift positions by leaning back without lifting the front of the bike off the path. Also great for descending due to the stability you point out.

The saddle was designed and patented by Tom Milton, our brother. Since his death two years ago both of his sisters, Carol and Meredith, have been operating Selle AnAtomica in his memory. Ryan, the young man in the booth this weekend, is Tom's nephew/Carol's son.

Thanks for riding SAA and for your insightful review. May you ride joyfully forever!

Re: i want to like the R.E.load MOLLE pack, but…

good point, i hadn't considered that when i authored this. i have paid top dollar for bags for just that reason. thanks for the response!

Re: i want to like the R.E.load MOLLE pack, but…

Thanks for the comments. R.E.Load, and any other messenger bag company worth their salt are going to use Dupont Cordura and waterproof tarp liners. These materials are more expensive than the ripstop, canvas, or nylon used by military contractors and these bags don't have the weatherproofing. This bag is for someone who wants superior weather resistance AND modularity.

Re: Review: Cannondale Trail SL 29er 4

I picked mine up at Sports Basement in San Francisco. The buyer snatched up five of them from their distributor. I've found several online but you have to either pick it up in person or send someone live to pay for it, after which they will ship it.
So far I've found it to be an EXCELLENT bike for the price. Any questions, let me know.
